Tom Hegg, Author

Trained for the classical repertory stage, Tom Hegg spent five seasons as an actor with the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre Company in Minneapolis. While there, he played the role of Charles Dickens in “A Christmas Carol.” It was during research for the part that his own romance with writing began. Small wonder that the holiday season surfaces again and again in his work.

Today, Mr. Hegg is the director of drama at Breck School, where he hold the rank of Master Teacher. He is the recipient of several award and commendations in connection with his teaching career, including the titles of Teacher of Excellent and Honor Roll Teacher bestowed by the Minnesota Education Association, and a listing in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.”

Mr. Hegg is a public speaker with extensive national experience. His programs gather around the theme of the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity. Audiences find themselves buoyed by frequent and hearty laughter and touched by sweet tears. In connection with his stories and poems, Mr. Hegg speaks about living with clinical depression and chronic anxiety. His message is one of constant and abiding hope through the exercise of discipline and Faith.

Miss Helen Hayes, Mr. Charles Kuralt and Dr. James C. Dobson all have praise for Tom Hegg’s work. The New York TIMES bestseller list has featured him for five consecutive years, and he appears several times each holiday season as spokesman for the “Christmas Tea” line of giftware on QVC.

The Hegg Family – Tom, Peggy and Adam – makes their home in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
